On October 25th, David Brown "spotted perhaps a half dozen deer tracks in mud" near the Alewife Reservation parking lot. He stated that he sees "a lot of deer tracks elsewhere in my work" and that "There is no question about the ID." David Brown is a noted wildlife tracker in New England and author of the Friends of Alewife Reservation wildlife assessments from a Riverways grant in 2000, later published into a book, "Biodiversity of the Alewife Reservation Area" available from FAR for $10.

On November 30th, Robert Stymeist and Karsten Hartel, two outstanding Massachusetts birders, reported to wildlife observers and birding associations of deer tracks in several locations along the Alewife Reservation's Little River trail that leads west of the Uplands from the DCR public parking lot in Cambridge on Acorn Park Drive to Little Pond in Belmont.

Stymeist, former editor of Massachusetts' foremost birding journal, "Bird Observer", discovered the deer tracks. Hartel, long time birder for Arlington's Menotomy Bird Club, assessed that the deer were running, from the distance and lay of the tracks. Hartel of the Museum of Comparative Zoology is author of "Inland Fishes of Massachusetts", a 340 page detailed guide to the Commonwealth's fish and their distribution. He is also one of New England's noted birding observers.
