WHO DOES WHAT WHEN WHY
3 volunteers measure water temp at mouth of brook at Mystic River; look for 48-52 F. for Alewives and then 56-58 for Bluebacks about 1 X wk starting late Apr. that signals when the monitoring begins and helps distinguish the 2 species
6 volunteers look for herring at 5 locations

  • Winn Bk culvert Little Pond
  • Spy Pd culvert Little Pond
  • Wellington Brk near orchard
  • Wellington Brk upstream of Blair Pond

4 volunteers measure silt with sechi disk around all of above areas; observe carp about 1 X wk after report from above re. water temp. to gather information about conditions for spawning
6 volunteers look for eggs 2 X wk when fish are reported at sites listed to gather information and keep records
2 per site measure silt and observe carp 2 x wk. where fish are reported to monitor conditions and prepare for recommendations to improve conditions
