2003 Docent Training Workshop Series
March 15, March 22, and April 5 (Saturdays) Friends of Alewife Reservation (FAR) is a non-profit volunteer organization, reflective of the community and dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the Alewife Reservation through volunteer efforts and cooperation with the MDC and local officials. FAR offers a vision for uses in the Reservation which balance respect for wildlife habitat with access for all to ecologically focused recreation, support for educational purposes, reduction in vandalism and waste, as well as watershed protection. Learn to lead nature walks! David Brown, wildlife specialist and renowned naturalist, will lead three three-hour training sessions. The goal of training is to prepare a cadre of docents to lead walks in the Alewife Reservation. To become an Alewife docent, no prior experience is needed. All that is needed is time, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn about the plants, birds, mammals, insects and ecology of the Alewife Reservation. All docent trainings will begin at Neville Manor's Maynard Ecology Center at Fresh Pond, on Concord Ave. in Cambridge, and proceed to the Alewife Reservation for most of the time. Final Saturday session with Peter Alden to be arranged. Dates: March 15, March 22, and April 5 Time: 9 a.m. to Noon Cost: $15 per session To Register: Contact Gloria Korsman at 617-945-1339 Friends of Alewife Reservation 1170 Massachusetts Ave. Cambridge MA 02140 http://friendsofalewifereservation.org This page updated February 1, 2003. |
