Where are the geese??…

Wish I knew…. well we hoped the large numbers we have had would return after their seasonal month……there are some around (Canada Geese)….usually a few will gather on the meadow on Acorn Park Drive….they love the grass… saw them yesterday… they are quite skittish, though…. which is different as this has been home territory to them…… there were a couple in the wetlands keeping in vocal contact…. but they soon left…..  we haven’t seen this before…..

Can you guess??….

MVI_3891Over the past week I have been in contact with some kind of creature on the path next to the wetlands….a very distinctive sound, only…. never have I or any companion been able to see the creature….  S/he  is willing to converse but I couldn’t identify what type of creature…. until I made a short video……now maybe someone(s) else can tell me who this is……

This week at Alewife……

heronyate7-20-14muskrathauloxbow7-15-14geesebacklittleriver7-20-14The Canada geese are returning…..good to see them…. Lorene tells me that many birds are not seen for the month after breeding….getting rested and fed perhaps to migrate….. the geese molt and hide or leave to protect themselves as they can’t fly for awhile… looks like we’ll see a lot more airborne residents and visitors so look up!…

Muskrat that resides at oxbow island makes lottery haul on greenery….photo is not so great but it was quite a sight….no doubt mate was quite pleased…

Full feathered heron at far end of Yates preens … GB herons are always such a treat to see….
