A gentle ranger-led nature walk fit for all ages.

Sunday March 16 -- 9am – 12noon Friends of Breakheart Pancake Breakfast

Enjoy a pancake breakfast and watch DCR staff working in the Sugar Shack to conjure up the syrup from sap. $5 Admission per person directly contributes to The Friends of Breakheart Reservation and Camp Nihan’s continued support of Maple Sugarin’ at Breakheart (see March 22).

Adaptive Skating – Games on Ice for All Abilities
Admission and equipment are provided free of cost! Ice sleds, skate walkers, helmets, yak trax and ice skates are available. Propel yourself with small hockey sticks or be pushed around the rink by a friend.

Maple Sugarin’ at Breakheart

Come learn how maple syrup is made and sample the results.
Requested Donation of $5 per person, $20 per family, to The Friends of Breakheart Reservation and Camp Nihan directly contributes to the Maple Sugarin’ supplies and equipment.

CAMP NIHAN: Field Trips By Reservation

See traces of the living things that surround us and man's impact on the land on this Staff-led walk along the Saugus River, habitat for a variety of animals.
Wear sturdy footwear, long sleeves, long socks, and long pants.

About Friends of Alewife Reservation

The Alewife Reservation is a unique natural resource for the communities of Belmont, Arlington and Cambridge and home to hundreds of species, including hawks, coyotes beavers, snapping turtles, wild turkeys and muskrats, the reservation is a unique natural resource for the community.

Friends of Alewife Reservation works to protect and restore this wild area and the surrounding area for the water quality, native plants, animals and over 90 bird species with paths for walking, running and biking, recreation, and for classroom education and research. We regularly steward and preserve the Reservation area for wildlife and for the enjoyment of present and future generations.
