BU Global Days of Service Garden Service
April 13th, 9am-1pm

Boston University students will be spending the day preparing our Native Plant Garden for the Spring and Summer season as a part of their Global Days of Service Campaign. Please join us from 9am until 1pm at the garden across the street from the Alewife T Station Passenger Pick Up.


Maggi Brown Walk
April 13th, 1pm-2:30pm

Welcome families. Celebrate springtime on an easy stroll through Alewife Brook Reservation. The anadromous Herring migrates each spring from the Atlantic Ocean to the Reservation's Little Pond and Blair Pond to spawn. We will be looking for pussy willows, woodcock, animal tracks in the mud and other early signs of spring. For ages 8 and up.1 hour. Dave Brown Walk
April 20th, 8am-10am


An early morning 8am wildlife walk by professional assessor David Brown. Boston University Alumni will be joining us together with Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School youth and others who want to participate in a wildlife assessment walk. They will meet at the Alewife Reservation parking lot on Acorn Park Drive. Please see the attached flyer for more information. This early Saturday walk is in conjunction with the Cambridge-MIT Science Festival which offers over 100 science events all week for residents and students, etc. This walk is free.We will have bars, oranges and water for all participants.


Earth Day/ Park Serve Day Watershed-Wide Stewardship Event
April 20th, 10am-3pm
In celebration of Earth Day on April 22nd, the Mystic River Watershed Association is sponsoring a watershed-wide Clean Up. That same Saturday, DCR is also sponsoring Massachusetts-wide Park Serve Day for thousands of volunteers who annually come into DCR parks to steward and do projects to help maintain and support the Mass. park system. Thus, in coordination with MyRWA and DCR, FAR is hosting a Clean Up at Alewife Reservation originating at Alewife Reservation across from the Alewife T passenger pick up at 10am.


Three Towns, One Forest: A Lesley University Forum to Save the Silver Maple Forest
April 25th, 7pm

Lesley University, Green Cambridge, and FAR are hosting an environmentally timely Forum to save the Silver Maple Forest from 7pm-9pm. Speakers on the Forum include: Scott Horsley of Horsley and Witten Co., EKhalsa of the Mystic River Watershed Association, Geophysicist Lucia Lovison, Quinton Zondervan of Green Cambridge, Minka vanBeuzekom, Cambridge City Council, Scott Horsley of Horsley and Witten Co. and David Morimoto, head of Natural Science and Mathematics Dept. at Lesley. UMASS ProjectServe Spring Day of Service
April 27th, 10am-2pm

Students from UMASS ProjectServe Spring Day will participate in another Clean Up from 10am until 2pm. Meet at Passenger Pick up. Gloves, water, bars, oranges and tools provided.


Poetry Walk
May 4th, 2pm-4pm

Anne Marie Lambert will guide this walk with poet Richard Cambridge. Further information to be announced.
